This should really be two separate blog posts, but I came up with that title, I like, I'm stickin' with it, so:
1) Just saw the movie "Invasion" with Leslee. We were 2 of 4 in the whole theater, so I am a little worried this movie is bombing. I really hope not! It was totally awesome. Aside from some crummy editing in places, it's one of the best sci-fi movies I've seen recently, if ever. It's based on the classic "Body Snatchers" story by Jack Finney, and stars Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig (have to admit my viewing decision was based solely on Craig...ahem). Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised at how intellectual it was, and very tightly wound as an action/thriller as well. I don't want to give much away, but if you weren't totally entertained by the Tom Cruise version of "War of the Worlds" (which I thought was just sloppy and cliche), you will probably find "Invasion" the better alien invasion story. I especially liked that the story was told from the perspective of a mom. Sadly though, this made me wish Kidman had sole custody of her kids...maybe Hollywood just needs to come up with some more different story archetypes.
2) Just read this neat article called At a Family Gathering, an Internet Cafe Breaks Out. I was so entertained I wanted to leave some feedback, but I was chuffed that there was no attached forum. How sad is that? I wonder how I would fare a week away from the internet...
