    Wedding Season in Arizona
    Thursday, October 27, 2005

Apparently, October is wedding season. I have a wedding to go to on Saturday, with nothing to wear. The outfit I was going to wear was seen by another guest a couple of days ago. It was the first time we met, and I don't want him to think that that is the only outfit I wear (there was a Seinfeld episode about this). I went shopping all day yesterday, and could find nothing suitable for a wedding. Apparently, it is impossible to buy something simple, sober, classic, and understated. Everything has sequins and sparkle. There are disgusting guacho pants (it was a bad idea in the 80s - there was no need to resuscitate), bolero tops, sweaters that fall off your shoulders, chunky, awkward jewelery, and numerous things that will not last a single fashion season. I loathe shopping to begin with - and with only a few days to go my old standby of online shopping is completely useless. Next week is an engagement party, and the week after that is a wedding shower. If I'm lucky, I'll find one good outfit in the next two days and be able to wear it to all three events. Otherwise, I'm going naked.
